Life of Brian debate in 1979

I think they’re apologizing a bit too much for this film. Of course, though, in 1979, you couldn’t just come right out and tell people you were an atheist, I suppose, and that your film was ridiculing religion.You’d have a bit of trouble finding work. It’s still that way in many parts of the country. Even here, there is a significant portion of the population that will 1) mock you, 2) curse at you, or 3) fight with you about your lack of belief. Never mind that it doesn’t inconvenience them in the least.
