Calling all Atheists: CERT training

The Tacoma Fire Department offers free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training to citizens. It’s a 7-day course that provides hands-on training to teach you how to help your neighbors and community in a disaster, before emergency reponders arrive. FEMA now recommends that citizens be prepared to survive for 7 to 10 days following a major disaster. The classes take place in the evenings twice a week and one Saturday. They cover light search and rescue, first aid, fire prevention and safety, shutting off utilities, and more. Contact Ute Weber at the Tacoma Fire Department, or sign up online.
